UnsaidFather stands knee deep in salt grey to catch the mean-lipped fish,Unsaid
armour heavy, glowing then, breathless.
The dancing river body has stilled, no longer live-eyed and Father is wet to the knees. He smokes, watching the pull of sun.
The tricked river moves around his body, as if it has always been there.
On the kitchen table the fish is released, like two palms. Cardinal red flesh
is separated from a suitcase of bones.
This soulless baggage, a sacrifice.
